Pervenez 2004

PERVENEZ (Lugansk)

15/08-29/08 2004

The work exactly in the boarding school included repairing: painting the walls, washing corridors, hall windows, floor everywhere after the ceiling painting, doing up the rooms, cleaning up the yard (gathering the trash and put into the cars for the utilization). The work was not really interesting and diverse, but both students and volunteers understood that it is important for the society and for the students. Nevertheless we had a lot of joy and happiness, communicating and laughing together, eating and celebrating everyday as a good day.

During the international workcamp we have been visited by the representatives of local and regional mass media, we gave like middle project evaluations (everyone who wanted to say something) – so we were informing the local inhabitants about the project realization fully, raising by means of it their awareness.

We had wonderful weekend, spent in the protected area, called Provalskiy Step. There was another international Workcamp, and we had plenty of enjoyable time we spent together. Also during two weeks of conducting the Workcamp, we had one of the greatest holidays of Ukraine – the Day of Independence, and a big holiday of our region – the day of Miner. The celebration seemed so bright for every participant of our Workcamp – they noticed that Ukraine is so different from the other countries – we have a lot of minuses of every aspect of our life, but still it is really difficult to leave Ukraine without warm feeling within your heart.

After the Workcamp have been finished, the active group, formed at the project beginning, continued the work in the school (they were also students of this school), as it was planned, with a lot of enthusiasm and optimism – there are a lot of work but if we don’t do anything no one will do it for us. Listening to these phrases, we understood that our work with these participants of the project was not for nothing, and we archived our goals on the global level.

Step by step, our work in the school saw its end. We were happy that almost everything planned we fulfilled, but still we were really sad, because we used to do everything together, to live in the neighboring rooms, to have fun every evening. But! We still live in the same city and visiting each other almost everyday, so it’s not so as big problem as we saw it before :-)

The project was realized with financial support of Milieukontakt Oost-Europa by Green World Lugansk.
