Overview SVIT activities and development in 2001

During the first year of its existence SVIT, as all babies, had very active period of learning and growing. There were three meetings of SVIT members dedicated to strategic planning, preparation of summer activities of 2001 and evaluation. Our activists have participated to

• campleader trainings of OWA Poland in Poznan and SCI Germany in Bad Birnbach,
• workcamps of OWA Poland, SCI-Switzerland and SCI-Romania;
• summer school of SCI organized by Alternative V Ukraine;
• program on creation of local volunteer centers of Gurt Resource Center.

Internal structure of SVIT was improved through practical activities; SVIT members tried themselves by sharing tasks for organization of camps and development of materials for SVIT web-site. After learning how to talk and write, SVIT has rapidly improved its communication system, dividing it into internal and external discussion lists.

Two international workcamps "Circus at the Bottom of the Pit" and "Cemetery of Civilization" were organized in Summer 2001 with participation of volunteers from Sweden, Germany (SCI Germany), Moldova (AVI) and USA (Peace Corps). "Eco-action" NGO was involved in the second workcamp as local project partner. Technical European Meeting of SCI in Bulgaria, autumn 2001, brought SVIT official status of new contact organization of SCI in Ukraine.
